There is nothing more important and self fulfilling than volunteering to assist in the production and administration of events and fund raisers in
your community. Not only is it a great way to meet new people, but it can be both a memorable and educational experience in addition to helping raise
funds for local charities. Assist us in keeping our costs down so we can continue to put on such a smashing event and give to local charities and
service organizations. Fill out a Volunteer Application and fax to the festival
office right away! We need you!

PERKS
What? You'd like more that just accolades for your hard work? Okay! All volunteers will receive either a t-shirt or apron
(depending on job description) one tasting glass and can earn ticket as follows:

Volunteer the minimum four-hour shift and you may spend the remainder of the day at the festival.
Work a six hour shift and you will receive admission for you and a friend for the following day.

DRESS CODE
Casual yet well heeled is the atmosphere! We encourage our volunteers to wear all black or black pants and white shirt.
And though well heeled, you'll probably want to leave the heels at home, and maybe even carry a second pair of flats. Most
positions require standing and walking, and you'll want to have fun as well as be comfortable. We will provide our
volunteers with required apron or shirt, depending on job.

WHAT TO BRING
A smile coupled with a good attitude and flexible demeanor is most important! We will have a show office, however, space
is at a premium, and neither security nor show management can take responsibility for your personal belongings. Please
leave all valuables at home.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE
Most volunteer shifts are for three of five hours during the event. Let us know of your interest and your availability.

LOCATION
A majority of the activities will be held at the Reno Hilton in the Pavilion. The Wine Education Programs have moved to an
adjacent room this year. Other winemaking dinners and activities will take place in both Reno and Tahoe, prior to, or
immediately following the festival. We will be promoting these events however, unless you'll doing pre-event grass roots
marketing (distributing POS fliers, postcards and posters through out the community), off-site volunteer assistance is not
needed.

PARKING
At the Reno Hilton parking is always free. This includes valet parking (sometimes a wait) however tipping is encouraged!

WHEN TO ARRIVE
Please arrive a half hour prior to your scheduled shift. You'll want to spend this
time getting a lay of the land, checking in with the volunteer supervisor and becoming situated.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Complete frenzy! Well, maybe not complete frenzy, but count on everyone being crazy busy, and if you're accidentally left
standing around, it's not because you're unappreciated! We don't, however, want clusters of volunteers doing nothing - not
the atmosphere we want to project, so keep busy, or take a walk around the event for a moment, until the volunteer
coordinator can acknowledge your existence!

The atmosphere is fun and festive, but our vendors are here to make contacts and money, not just distribute food and drink
to the planet. So encourage eating, drinking, and SPENDING! All in moderation!

No drinking while working or while wearing a volunteer shirt/apron. Wait until after your shift!

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY SHIFT
Wow, if you're an advance planner, you're as crazy as show management, and you'll probably fit right in! Log on to the
website as the date gets close and copy the Information page. This document will note times, participating wineries,
entertainment schedule and everything the public needs to know. If you'll be working with vendors, you may wish to read the
Exhibitor Information pages linked to the Behind the Scenes page. Happy Reading!

Okay, so you think you'd like to volunteer? Where do you start? Completely fill out and fax back your Volunteer Application.
If you have not received a call back within a week, PLEASE CALL 916-985-6890 to confirm we've received your form.
